I was selected as Mechanical Design Intern last summer. My initial assignment was to develop an enclosure for 3D Printer. The primary purpose of the enclosure was to prevent environmental effects adversely acting on the print. Although this assignment may seem easy on the surface, it requires many factors to be taken into consideration before deciding on the enclosure. At the start of the internship, they taught all the basic 3D Printing / Additive Manufacturing concepts. As a student who did not have any knowledge in Additive Manufacturing, this learning helped me understand that this concept is one of the driving factors of the future.
After their initial training, I was informed about my objective and the schedule to be followed. I was allowed to use 3D Printers without any reservations at the start itself, which is very rare considering the high-value cost of the printers possessed by them. During my assignment, I was imparted with various new concepts that helped me understand the print factors. Most importantly, Praveen had daily progress conversations to understand the daily progress and was determined to eliminate any bottlenecks I faced. Gowri Shankar also had weekly discussions to understand the overall progress and helped me to improve my presentation and communication skills. During my internship, they also made me feel like one team with various team-building exercises being conducted every weekend with other team members and internees.
In conclusion, I would emphasize that I was taught various new concepts and skills essential for every engineer during the internship period but can only be gained through experience. I was fortunate to be one of the few to gain experience with the help of Amuse. I am always grateful for their contribution to improving myself for the current technological situation.

I got a chance to work as a Marketing Intern at Amuse, an Additive Manufacturing company focusing on reducing carbon footprint. This was my first internship experience, and I was pretty nervous. But Naveen Sowriraj company’s co-founder helped me in all possible ways and made me learn and implement many new things. In addition, the culture and energy embodied and displayed by every employee made it so exciting to come and work every day.
I spent my time working in Amuse as a blog writer, creating a marketing funnel and marketing COVID products to various companies. However, I did learn about SEO during my intern where I had a chance to investigate keyword research and how to top the Google algorithm for better search results of amuse website.
Between the experience gained and the people I was able to work with, this internship was more than I could have ever hoped for during this pandemic. Through engaging activities and methodologies, I made significant gains in both fluency and the marketing field. I would not have the knowledge or skills I have today if it were not for my internship experience with Amuse.

AMuse – that is where it all began, just the name. I don’t know if it was a coincidence or a masterclass, but it took me a while to decode that it was ‘Use Additive Manufacturing’, coined into Amuse. A person can earn several degrees and have years of work experience, but the environment and workings of a start-up can never be felt unless lived through. That was my biggest take-away from 8 weeks of working at Amuse. How three college friends came together to take on the most significant market soon – sustainable manufacturing is an eye-opener. At Amuse, the satisfaction of the customers always comes first. Never was there a point when the customers had to settle for less. Such small initiatives made me realize Amuse has got a great future and is more than just a start-up.
I learnt a lot working under the CEO, Mr Gowri Shankar. Apart from technical knowledge, the basic things such as how a presentation must be done, how you need to categorize what is essential and what can be ignored, I shall never forget when making a career for myself. After Amuse, I was able to uncover what my likings and areas of specialization are. I realized that industrial automation and additive manufacturing are the sectors that I aspire to work in.
The freedom to experiment, to make errors and to learn is what Amuse gave me. Mr Naveen helped me whenever I seemed confused with my work. He always gives you a clear picture and helped me clear my doubts. His amenable character makes it very easy to approach him and work with him. Even though I didn’t work directly under Mr Praveen, his calm nature gives you a sense of belonging to the company. Thanks to him, I learned how to operate a 3D printer and prepare files for the same. For a not very confident student, Amuse gave me a chance to know myself better. I will always be grateful to them for giving me this opportunity. I’ll always embrace my experience at Amuse and look forward to our journeys to cross paths again.
